“Death and the stillness of death are the only things certain and common to all in this future.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
Rose is dying. Her body is wasted and skeletal. She is too sick and weak to move. Every day is an agony and her only hope is that death will find her swiftly before the pain grows too great to bear. She is sixteen years old. Rose has made peace with her fate, but her younger sister, Koren, certainly has not. Though all hope appears lost Koren convinces Rose to make one final attempt at saving her life after a mysterious man in a white lab coat approaches their family about an unorthodox and experimental procedure. A copy of Rose’s radiant mind is uploaded to a massive super computer called Aaru – a virtual paradise where the great and the righteous might live forever in an Arcadian world free from pain, illness, and death. Elysian Industries is set to begin offering the service to those who can afford it and hires Koren to be their spokes-model. Within a matter of weeks, the sisters’ faces are nationally ubiquitous, but they soon discover that neither celebrity nor immortality is as Utopian as they think. Not everyone is pleased with the idea of life everlasting for sale. What unfolds is a whirlwind of controversy, sabotage, obsession, and danger. Rose and Koren must struggle to find meaning in their chaotic new lives and at the same time hold true to each other as Aaru challenges all they ever knew about life, love, and death and everything they thought they really believed.

Hush, Hush Review

I put off reading Hush, Hush for far too long and decided it was finally time I give it a go.

Thankfully I was not disappointed in the slightest by this novel.

I did however have a few issues with the characters throughout the story, it grew to be a love/hate relationship towards them. I never fully hated the characters (except for Vee) but it would be hard to pinpoint a favorite character as they all had little quirks about them that I did not like.

I had so many thoughts rushing in my head about this novel that it was rather hard not to ramble on and on about about each and every aspect of this book.

For my own mental sanity and your reading safety, I decided to break it down into 5 main key thoughts. I figured that was better than unleashing all of my world-destructing rambles on you guys.

1. I have to start here because if I don’t I may actually explode. Continue Reading “Hush, Hush Review”

The Sandcastle Empire | Review

I am a bird, determined to fly despite my clipped wings and splintered feet. This cage of an island wont hold me forever.

When all hope is gone, how do you survive?

Before the war, Eden’s life was easy—air conditioning, ice cream, long days at the beach. Then the revolution happened, and everything changed.

Now a powerful group called the Wolf pack controls the earth and its resources. Eden has lost everything to them. They killed her family and her friends, destroyed her home, and imprisoned her. But Eden refuses to die by their hands. She knows the coordinates to the only neutral ground left in the world, a place called Sanctuary Island, and she is desperate to escape to its shores.

Eden finally reaches the island and meets others resistant to the Wolves—but the solace is short-lived when one of Eden’s new friends goes missing. Braving the jungle in search of their lost ally, they quickly discover Sanctuary is filled with lethal traps and an enemy they never expected.

This island might be deadlier than the world Eden left behind, but surviving it is the only thing that stands between her and freedom.

About Sad Girls:

School is almost out for Audrey, but the panic attacks are just beginning. Because Audrey told a lie and now her classmate, Ana, is dead. Just as her world begins to spin out of control, Audrey meets the enigmatic Rad – the boy who could turn it all around. But will their ill-timed romance drive her closer to the edge?

My Review:  OK, so I’m going to start by saying I have never been more disappointed in a main character than I am right now. Audrey was a complete disaster and a waste of time and that is treading lightly with my words. She was a self-centered character who despite the lie she told suffered no true consequences for her actions nor did she show an ounce of remorse for her actions. That was the first alarming thing I noticed. She also seemed to think she should be handed everything and not give anything in return. I was so hopeful that she would learn that this isn’t how life works except in this book it was. She was entirely right. I was shocked to see these opportunities just falling into her lap left and right. None of which she earned or deserved. Continue Reading “SAD GIRLS Review”

If you haven’t boarded the A Court Of Thorns And Roses train cauldron help you! You’re missing out!

This book series completely had me fooled. I knew I would like it, however, I did not expect to enjoy a series as much as I enjoyed this one. I found myself spending every free and waking moment engulfed into the world of Prythian and the lives of the High Fae Courts.

It absolutely took me by surprise and shattered my very existence when it ended. I was sitting on my couch anticipating the last few chapters of the book, wanting so badly to read it, but not wanting the series to truly be over. I finally just couldn’t help it I had to know how it would end.

Have I mentioned yet that it shattered my existence? Because Maas took my emotions on a whirlwind of a roller coaster ride. I sat in my living room as I flipped the last page with tears in my eyes and my mouth just wide in disbelief. She managed to pull on my heart, lead me to believe the worst was yet to come and then entirely end this series in such a beautiful and worthy way. I have never had a reading experience quite like this one. It was glorious and I am still left under its beautiful, beautiful spell. ♥
